Four checks that resolve most reports.

The app depends on a physical connection it does not control, so nearly every problem is on the wire rather than in software.

  1. Is the cable a data cable? A charge-only USB-C cable powers the camera and nothing else. Compare the two.
  2. Was the order right? Camera on in playback → app open and waiting → cable → wait for the ready line → Lightroom. See the sequence.
  3. Was the camera in playback? On the shooting screen it may only charge.
  4. Was Lightroom opened too early? It has to wait for “Camera ready for Lightroom.”

Include these six details.

With them we can usually reproduce the problem on the first try. Without them, we have to ask.

  • Your device and system version — for example “iPhone 16 Pro, iOS 26.1”.
  • The exact line the app was showing when it stopped, word for word.
  • Which cable you used, and whether you have confirmed it carries data.
  • Whether anything sits between camera and device, such as a hub or adapter.
  • The order you did things in, including when Lightroom was opened.
  • Whether the camera was on and in playback before you connected the cable.

Please do not send photographs

We never need your images to diagnose a connection problem, and we would rather not receive them. A screenshot of the app screen is enough.

Where we can help, and where we cannot.

We can help
Bridge for Ricoh GR behaviour, the connection sequence, cable and power questions, the ready state, and anything the app reports.
We can advise
Where Lightroom's connected-camera import lives, and what to expect once the camera has been released to it.
Adobe's remit
Lightroom accounts, subscriptions, catalogues, sync and editing. We are not affiliated with Adobe Inc. and cannot act on your account.
Ricoh's remit
Camera firmware, camera menus and camera repair. We are not affiliated with Ricoh Company, Ltd.
Out of scope
Recovering deleted photographs. Bridge for Ricoh GR never modifies camera storage, so it cannot have removed anything.
